Created in the wake of the demise of guitarist Mike Sullivan’s beloved Midwest math-rock ensemble Dakota Dakota, Russian Circles immediately gained attention for their dynamic compositions, wide tonal palette, elaborate finger-tapped riffs, dexterous live guitar loops, and sheer sonic force.

Their debut album Enter (2006) developed a strong enough cult following that they were handpicked by bands like Tool, Clutch, and High On Fire for opening slots on their tours. A decade later, the band released their 6th studio album Guidance (2016) and last year recently finished up a worldwide tour supporting Mastodon/Eagles Of Death Metal/Red Fang. Their live shows are consistently met with rave reviews, despite Russian Circles often not audibly “fitting” with many acts on a touring bill, however their sheer musical talent means their sound passes through genres and niches; it’s not hard to see why they have garnered such support and admiration from their peers.

Selling out London’s Heaven last March, Russian Circles are now back on UK turf for another headline set, this time bringing their hypnotic and bone shaking heavy sounds to the Oval Space on May 16th.
